Description: With this short documentary (26 mins.), Canan Turan is honouring her biggest heroine — her grandmother: Kıymet Özdemir emigrated to Germany in the ‘70s to save her husband from political persecution in Turkey. The film accompanies Canan on her journey to the village of her grandmother where she lives today. After more than 40 years of marriage Kıymet got divorced from her abusive husband and returned to her homeland. The two women travel to Berlin together, too, and share how living there as a migrant is/was for them. We learn how much Kıymet struggled and suffered, but also that she never gave up on herself and life.
