Focusing on Ohio, OH DEAR tells the story of the 70 year struggle of American women to gain basic citizenship—the right to vote. Oh Dear’s heroines include: Harriet Beecher Stowe, Lucy Stone, Antoinette L. Brown, Sojourner Truth, Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, Victoria Woodhull, Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Alice Paul and Florence Allen. Woman Suffrage opponents include: husbands, fathers, sons, pastors, educators, brewers and liquor interests, and politicians of every ilk, Democrat and Republican. In recovering the history of woman suffrage, OH DEAR traces the the relationship between the early Woman Suffrage movement and the other movements for civil rights.
