Type of project: Documentary
Category: Director
Description: The documentary FEBRUARY, filmed and edited by Irene Blanquez, paints a picture of the reality of greyhounds in Spain without being sensationalist. Hare-baiting, common practice in many rural areas, exposes the greyhound to a brutal training regime and to a life of misery. The hunting season finishes in February, a month when the number of greyhounds abandoned by their owners sky-rockets. Most of them are no more than three years old. The documentary has been produced with great enthusiasm and effort by Waggingtale Films. The pre-production, production and post-production work (camera, sound, editing, soundtrack, colour correction...) has been done by professionals altruistically without crowdfunding or sponsors. All the management, promotion and distribution in the official and educational tour is being also altruistic.
