About me
With over twelve years’ experience within the media as a documentary Producer/Director with leading broadcasters including the BBC, Channel 4 and National Geographic, I have written, produced and pitched stories for television and online media. Working in the world of visual media has always been a privilege and I have worked on many rewarding projects and steered award winning productions including a multi-platform campaign project driven by teenagers dealing with subjects such as knife crime, the environment and cyberbullying.
I have produced projects that are sensitive in nature with a wide variety of people including experts, celebrities, members of parliament and CEO's working with many freelancers within the creative industries from photographers, camera-people, PR and film-makers.
Managing and being part of a creative team to produce visual content and enable great storytelling is an integral part of my work. Without it I could not do my job. Whether I am being strategic and planning ahead or reacting immediately to situations, identifying opportunities for compelling content on the ground, as in observational documentaries, it is always crucial I use visually creative ways of showing the story and presenting the facts accurately within the remit set.
I have worked for different broadcasters in the UK and abroad as well as for online media. Whether the channels are here or abroad, the audiences span a wide variety of people and I have to consider this in the content that is produced. I have also worked on projects that have more specific audiences - from the youth market, niche markets to internal corporate groups.
Working in the creative industry is so much more than just being 'creative'- it is also about managing and maintaining administration, people and situations. These elements are important if effective content is to be produced. I have developed, planned, scheduled, cast, and managed many projects in various locations in the UK and abroad. I always work with integrity and empathy - building and maintaining trust and strong rapports with people enabling me to produce compelling and emotive stories that are visually and/or aurally engaging.
