About me
Mário Monteiro is a filmmaker and video editor currently based in Barcelona.
Born in 1988 in Lisbon, Portugal. He speaks, reads and writes in Portuguese, Spanish and English.
Started out in 2004, studying Audiovisual Production at etic_ in Lisbon, this made him realise that he wanted to pursue his interest for moving pictures. A couple of years later in 2007 he moved to Barcelona and graduated in Media Direction in Film and Television Production in IDEP. Working for a variety of companies such as Cromosoma, LaMosca, Nouphoto, Glassy Films, lantanafilms building up a good reputation as a filmmaker and video editor. After having left lantanafilms he took a course in Animation and Visual Effects in FX Animation School in Barcelona.
In 2011, after graduating from FX Animation, he founded his own production company Tokyo o’Clock. Since then he has worked for high end clients like Coca Cola, Silhouette, Adidas, Campari, Roca, Tampax and Poker Stars among others. He has also collaborated for acclaimed companies such as HBO, AXN, Universal, McCann, &Rosàs, DDB, Ogilvy & Mather, BBDO, DRAFTFCB, Oxígeno and RCR Films.
Throughout these past years he has been working as freelancer with production companies, agencies and direct clients from Spain, Portugal, England and Brasil. Mário’s experience includes promotional videos for brands, fashion videos, corporate videos, commercials and animations. His work has been featured by well know industry web sites like Motiongrapher, Creative Bloq, Fubiz among others.
Mário is specialised in video editing and post-production, has good knowledge about cameras and digital workflows (DSLR, RED, ALEXA). His range of skills includes direction, shooting, video editing, animation, compositing, color grading, multi-camera direction and live streaming. His knowledge enables him to fill multiple roles, whether leading on a project as director, carrying out complete projects independently or working as part of a team. His goal is to be working on creative and innovative projects in a good environment and acquire knowledge and experience trough the way. Learning new techniques and upgrading his skills in every work. Mario is passionate about the use of creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, travelling and disruptive technology.
